My Folder Win sxs \temp\pendingrenames (4.9gb) contains 69,248 files;most of them are dated september 29 2017 and dec 12 2017

Is it possible to reduce/eliminate these files

André

    I dont know.

    Imagine something is wrong.  That's way too big.

    I'd want to right click the PendingRenames folder and see if the security tab shows TrustedInstaller with full permissions.  That's who should be deleting things there after an update & restart.

    I would make a system image with my trusted AOMEI program or windows if I want to gamble - Then delete every file in there that's older than 30 days.

    Mine on windows home;

    Many thanks for your guidance.

    Not to confuse current problem;I am running Windows 10 Version 1709.When I looked at Installed updates I see that

    I have successfully installed update KB4074588 on Feb 18/2018 after many attempts

    I also see KB4074588 (same one)(5) last failed attempt 2018-02-15 0x80070643 is there a relation between the failed update and The Pending Renames......

    Yes TrustedInstaller has full permissions

    Thanks again for your time
