Windows Updates Interrupt My Work

I'm getting really fed up with Windows 10 updates. I don't want them. They are intrusive and always insist on happening when I'm in the middle of something important. I've tried disabling them but they still happen. I've tried scheduling them. But they ignore the scheduled time and happen when I'm in the middle of something important.

I've also found that things often don't work and various settings have been changed or drivers disabled, after a major update.

Is there a sure fire way of disabling updates fully and forever?

don't bother disabling the service, windows will enable it. group policy seems to be the best. See instructions in link

The updates are part of the operating system so they can't be permanently disabled.

Are you familiar with Active Hours? If your computer needs to restart to install an update you can arrange for the restart to happen when you're not using the computer, e.g., when you're sleeping at night.

How to configure Active Hours to avoid Windows 10 sudden restarts during updates

Updates to Windows 10 are no different than updates to earlier versions of Windows and have the same results: If you know how to operate your computer wisely, problems are rare. Ars Technica is reporting that the Fall Creators Update is installed on 85% of Windows PCs.

Updates contains improvements for security and reliability of your system and if you don't get update, then your PC will be at risk.

Updates usually runs in background and you could select when to install it. If for any reason the schedule doesn't work, you could report this as a bug through Feedback Hub app.
