unable to initialize directx error when trying to play a game?

I am trying to open scrap mechanic for my son and I get the error unable to initialize direct x. I ran updates and downloaded and installed the direct x end user application and still won't run the game. Is there another way to update direct x?

    The error is not necessarily due to not having a specific DirectX file.

    There may be another issue with the game itself. If so, you may find a solution on the Steam forums,

    • The DirectX Redist (June 2010) installer package has all of the DX9,10 & 11 files, so if you also finalised the install by

    running the DXSETUP.exe in the folder you unpacked the files to your Windows should have all DX files, and

    as this installer overwrites all existing DX files it also fixes any corrupt files in the process.

    • From what I see, this game does not have options for DX9 or DX10 effects, so if your graphics card is not capable

    of using DX11 ( A bit old for Win10 too), the game will not run.
