We appreciate the update, RPP. The computer sounds problematic and a handful, and we can understand your frustrations. The multiple issues that you experience at the same time can be caused by corrupted system files. Aside from the earlier recommendations that we provided, we also suggest that you perform an in-place upgrade. By performing an in-place upgrade, you will clean up the system which may help resolve some troubles with your desktop. We have a video that can show you how to perform an in-place upgrade on your desktop.

You might also be experiencing this issue because of a hardware problem. To troubleshoot hardware-related issues, we highly recommend that you reach out to your desktop manufacturer for further assistance. For more information on how to contact your desktop manufacturer, you may refer to the following article: Computer manufacturers' contact information.

Let us know how it goes so we can assist you further.

    Hi Gino,

Thank you for the info and timely reply.

I did not try any of the fixes that Alden Rey or you suggested; I haven't used that computer in a week because of the issues I'm having. Let me clarify a bit more the issue; the computer just freezes on whatever screen I'm working on whether it's word / excel or just the internet. The computer just stops, I cannot move the mouse, no task manager or control / alt / delete..... etc. I then need to do a hard reboot, ..... start windows normally, and about 6 minutes later, done / frozen again. Although I bought the computer in February, I can count on two hands how many times I've used it; it's been like this since almost day one. This computer is a big disappointment. I have antivirus software, I believe it's windows defender, I do run scans and I do update the computer every chance I get. Now last weekend was brutal and I lost allot of work repeatedly that I had to do over. I'm at my wits end that's why I haven't used it. BTW... my desktop also died, blue screen of death issue, so I'm back to using my 9 year old Chromebook and my ancient Dell laptop with the solid state drive... remember those? At least they work. I'm 54 years old and this is not acceptable, I needed this computer for work at home on the weekends and for school believe it or not. Now, next week I'm going to try these fixes unless there's anything you can suggest based on the additional info I provided. I do not have time tomorrow to work on this as I have a very busy week ahead and I need a computer that actually works. One more thing, I am very loyal to the Microsoft suite of products, I purchased the computer through Microsoft; BTW... I'm also a share holder. I expected alot more from Windows 10.

    Thanks,

    RPP

    Hello,

We have not heard back from you and we would like to make a follow-up regarding your issue. Several factors can affect your computer's performance, including malware (malicious software), corrupted Windows system files, and background programs running on your computer.

If you are still experiencing lockups on your brand new computer, we suggest that you try some of the suggestions in the following article to help make your Windows 10 installation run better: Tips to improve PC performance in Windows 10.

To check if a startup or background program is causing your computer to lock up, let's perform a clean boot. When you start your computer in a clean boot state, it starts by using a minimal set of services and startup programs. This troubleshooting method is designed to isolate a performance problem.

Note: Please go through the Reset the computer to start normally after clean boot troubleshootingsection in the clean boot article to boot the computer in normal startup after performing a clean boot.

Keep us updated with the results, and we will be glad to assist you further.

    Hi,

Disabling the lock screen is now entirely possible in the Creators Update, whether you're running Home or Pro (including Enterprise and Education) editions of Windows 10. There are methods that you can adjust to refrain your computer from locking the screen. To do this, simply follow the methods provided below:

Method 1: Power & sleep settings:

    • Click Start
    • Click Settings
    • Click Power & sleep
    • Click on Screen and choose Never

    Method 2: Change Power Options:

    • Click Start / Cortana
    • Type in Power Options
    • Choose your preferred plans and click on Change plan settings
    • Click Turn off display to Never
    • Click on Save changes.

For any other concerns, don't hesitate to get back to us.

    Regards.
