This may have something to do with the browser and email startup settings. If this is only happening to those applications, then we suggest that you check application settings. You may also contact the developer of the said applications.

Let us know if you need further assistance. Feel free to post back.

It happens with which ever is active. So if Chrome has the background and Thunderbird is in front, then Thunderbird opens full and vise versa if Chrome is in front.. I just tried it with Windows Explorer in front and it didn't happen. However, I tried it again with Chrome and it didn't happen. Those tests were only done on a short sleep, so it appears length of time in sleep mode is also a factor.. I'll try it again with Explorer in front and let it sleep for a while.

    Thanks for the reply.

    Regards, Allan

11/05/17: Edit: Touch wood, but the problem seems to have been solved by this last W10 release/update.

    Hi Allen,

In order for to isolate such issue, like the apps are opened in full screen after waking up your laptop, may we know if the tablet mode is enabled? What are the changes on your PC prior to this? Also, have you tried updating the display adapters and drivers.

    Regards.

Thanks for the quick response. Tablet mode is available to me, but I never use it. The drivers are all kept up by Dell's "Dell Update".  Windows update is automatic. I'm quite sure I haven't made any changes. This idiosyncrasy has been happening for under a month I think; although I can't be sure as time does seem to slip by.
