Windows 10 Web navigation intermittent issues

Dear community,

My Windows 10 desktop have started to show a strange behavior since a couple weeks ago.

Possibly in the begginning of December of 2017.

Here is the description:

Internet browser does not load up most of websites.

It feels as slowness while loading the websites to the point the browser times out.

But nothing is really displayed until it times out.

The status bar of the browser shows "connecting..."

If I insist several times, every once in a while it would partially load the website.

Like unformatted text and then it will not work properly when clicking or moving the mouse around because it clearly did not load the site completely. Maybe it loads the HTML, but not the scripts behind it nor images.

The problem occurs with most sites I normally use like my bank website, imdb.com, facebook, microsoft.com, cnn news pratically any site I try to open when the issue is occurring.

It would possibly load up Google search page, which I have set as my initial opening page, but I presume it is a cached version since it won't return any search results.

The problem seems independent of browser, since it occurs on both IE and Chrome, which I most commonly use.

The issue is intermittent. It seems it always shows itself when I turn on my desktop, but it may recurr during the day.

When troubleshooting I found a workaround: when I open the network adapter settings, I switch from ethernet adapter to wifi by disabling the ethernet adapter. Then the issue goes away and I can navigate again perfectly.

Even if I disable the wifi and switch back to the ethernet adapter at this point the issue DOES NOT come back.

I've made various attempts to fix this or better understand the issue but I could not nail it down yet:

  • I have reinstalled the ethernet and wifi drivers
  • Initially I though it was related to my ISP, I did reset my router and called them a couple times but I stopped when I realized I have other computers in the same network and they work just fine, so it must be something related to this computer specifically.
  • When the issue occurs I am still able to ping other IPv4 adresses inside and outside my own network.
  • When the issue occurs I am still able to nslookup the same sites that are failing to load and the DNS server resolve their IP addresses and DNS names correctly.
  • When the issue occurs I am still able to open my NAS, inside my own network and also use a shared printer.
  • I have scanned my dekstop several times looking for some sort of malware of virus infection and again, I couldn't find anything suspect.

If anybody can help, I would greatly appreciate, I have a very good hardware here and I am frustrated that it is not working as it should.

Sometimes operating system files can become broken or corrupt for one reason or another (rogue app, bad driver or update). This can resolve such problems. It won't prevent it from happening again, but at least get your system back in working order.

    Andre,

Thanks for your quick reply, although I am pretty sure your approach would make my system work normally again.

But would that really prevent the issue of happening again?

I am still open to find a root cause and a more surgical approach.

But be sure I will bookmark your reinstallation instructions.

    Marcelo
