VSS Non-Retryable Error

When troubleshooting Event 33676 ( Replication operation for virtual machine 'Server' failed: The writer experienced a non-transient error.  If the backup process is retried, the error is likely to reoccur. (0x800423F4)). I found that this VSS writer is associated to NTDS. A reboot of the server seemed to have temporary fixed the error, but the error has returned. 

What other troubleshooting mechanisms can I try to resolve this issue. Other Hyper-V-VMMS events associated are. 

  1. Error 18012 (Checkpoint operation for 'Server' failed. (Virtual machine ID 0604B658-8E47-416D-8F90-0A31448A9D09)).
  2. Warning 32024 (Hyper-V failed to generate VSS snapshot set for virtual machine 'Server': The writer experienced a non-transient error.  If the backup process is retried, the error is likely to reoccur. (0x800423F4). VSS snapshot set generation can fail if backup operation is in progress. (Virtual machine ID 0604B658-8E47-416D-8F90-0A31448A9D09)
