Windows 10 bluetooth connection

On windows 10 laptop, connecting Bluetooth headphones to laptop.

Pairs successfully to laptop but keeps disconnecting immediately once it connects, same with all other Bluetooth devices that I've tried to connect to it.

Can be physically seen connecting and disconnecting on the settings twice before it gives up.

Things tried to fix but haven't worked:

  • removing and reinstalling device(s)
  • uninstalling all Bluetooth drivers and installing again
  • full system scan for corruptions but none found
  • going into registry editor "Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\BTHPORT\Parameters\Devices" to delete all devices
  • tried USB-BT400 ASUS Bluetooth 4.0 USB adapter, no difference made

Please try these options one by one and check after each option. Skip a step if you have already tried.

    1. Run Troubleshooters for Bluetooth and Hardware & Devices

Type troubleshoot in Windows Starts Search box (Cortana) > Troubleshoot

1.1 Click Bluetooth and run the troubleshooter

1.2 Click Hardware & devices and run the troubleshooter

    1. Update your Bluetooth Driver

Windows Key+X (Or right click on Start) > Click Device Manager > Expand Bluetooth > Right click on entry below > Click Update Driver Software > Click Browse my computer for driver software > Click Let my pick from a list of device drivers on my computer > Choose the driver > Click Next to update

If this does not work, select Search automatically for the updated driver in place of Browse my computer for driver software

    Restart your computer

    1. Uninstall your Bluetooth Driver

In step 1, right click > Uninstall > Reboot your computer

    1. Restart Bluetooth Support Service

Windows Key+R > Type services.msc > Enter > Once the Services window opens, locate Restart Bluetooth Support Service > right-click > Restart

After so, right-click on it again, choose Properties, then ensure startup type is on Automatic
