Installing Older Programs on Windows 10

Greetings all-

Recently I had to send my computer in for repair and upon return was reset to factory defaults.  I had decided now would be a good time to upgrade to W10 which I was able to successfully.  Now I am attempting to install my programs back to it, one of which is MS Works which many of my older files were created with but don't seem to convert properly with a more recent version of MS Word, so I have enjoyed the fact that I have the installation disk and am able to use it on my other computers, however now that I have updated to W10 and am attempting to install it I am given a notification that it cannot install because it requires Internet Explorer 6 or greater.  I have also tried the compatibility wizard but it only works for installed programs.  Please help.

Which browser are you using? Have you ever opened IE to set it up if using Edge or a third party browser?

In the end MS Works 8 may not be compatible.

You can download Works 9 here: https://winworldpc.com/product/microsoft-works/9x

What version of Works are you trying to install?

Have you tried running the setup.exe file in compatibility mode?

I run Works 9 on my Windows 10 pc.

Yes, I have tried running in compatibility mode but CM only goes up to Windows 8 on my computer.  I am attempting to install Works 8.

Further to my reply when using compatibility mode you choose the version of Windows which the software previously worked on - say Works 8 worked well on Windows 7 then you would choose that option.
