Direct X initialization Error

I purchased the witcher 2 game on steam and when I pressed play it started the launcher. In the launcher I pressed launch, but it didn´t launch. Two seperate windows appeared (They were both called the witcher 2 on the taskbar.) and one of them was just a black screen and the other one said ,,Direct3D 9 device initializaton failed´´ What should I do?

    Hi Bernard,

    Type Direct3D 9 into the search on your Taskbar, if you have it installed, it will show up, if not, you can download it from the link below, then install it and restart your PC

    Hi Bernard,

    The Steam Community report this fixes that error:

    Go to the Direct3D 9 Control Panel (search for it on your PC)

    In the 3D 9 Panel check this box: 'Software Only box

    Hit Apply and restart your PC

    Some things you can try:

    • lowering your screen resolution.

    Right click the desktop, click Screen resolution

    Click in the Resolution list box then choose a lower screen resolutions

    Click Apply the OK

    • Try running the game in compatibility mode:
