S Agent M

Upon shutdown from 8.1, I consistently receive a message than S Agent M is still operating and preventing a shut down.  I see that I can remove this program, however, how will that affect any updates or other functions it's meant to perform?  Why is it staying open in the first place?

Thank you.

There is no such valid Windows component. I would uninstall it and scan your system.

    Click Start, type: internet options

    Hit Enter

    Click Advanced tab

    Click Reset

    Click Reset again

Use Malwarebytes to scan and clean the computer.

Also use ESET Sysrescue offline scanner to scan and clean the computer, see instructions in the following article:

References Windows 10, but instructions should also work for Windows 8.1
