hello all,

I was having issues with my PC shutting down, and so i followed the advice on windows of how to fix BSOD (blue screen of death)

none of them were working so the final thing to do was try to and boot it in safemode... bad decision!

my microsoft account has come up to log onto my computer since when i made a microsoft account, it asked me to create a PIN - and that for some reason became how i logged into my computer.

once in safe mode it told me my password was wrong. So I changed my microsoft account password via my phone, and STILL its apparently wrong. Even though im using my account on my phone.

PLEASE HELP. I’m so annoyed that following professional advice has led me to be locked out of my PC. And there should be something else i can do to avoid recovery??

No it doesn't delete anything it starts windows without 3rd party drivers. It's similar to safe mode but safe mode starts with the bare minimum of drivers.

Will a clean boot effect/delete any of my files?

If not I will give it a go now and see if it works. Thank you

If you can do it I would try using a clean boot.

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/help/929135/how-to-perform-a-clean-boot-in-windows

Run the system in this configuration for a while and see if you still have problems. You will need to go into a normal boot state first though.

As an aside I would get rid of driver easy and check your drivers yourself. You don't know what this may be installing.

I've been able to get into my laptop (weirdly enough with my gmail password not microsoft?).

    Windows 10

    Version 1803 - OS build 17134.228

I usually got the stopcode: Video TDR failure nvlddmkm.sys but the last one I got was Memory Management Internal.

I have driver Easy and All of my drivers are updated, I've tried everything that was suggested to fix these and the last thing to do was to put it through safemode. Which I am now in.

    Hello Amy,

In line with your concern, I would suggest to try using all the passwords you've used in the past and check if it lets you proceed starting in Safe Mode. Also, to better assist you with your concern, I'd like to know the following:

    • Confirm which build is currently installed on your device. To check, follow the steps below:
    1. Press Windows key + R, then type in winver.
    2. Click OK.
    • What is the make and model of your computer?
    • What is the error message that you're getting when you've experienced the blue screen error?

    Looking forward to your response.

    Regards.
