Mobile metered connection setting keeps reverting back to On

Hello,

I need my OneDrive to constantly update on a Mobile connection, therefore my only option is to set the Mobile connection as unmetered (setting on Off).

Within a few hours or few days, Windows 10 keeps reverting back the setting to On which in turn pauses OneDrive, which again is undesirable in my situation.

Why is the setting constantly reverting back to metered? How can I stop this?

Ivan

Hi Ivan,

I would try setting the default for the connection type through the Registry.

  • Open RegEdit from the start menu
  • Browse to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\NetworkList\DefaultMediaCost
  • In this location you should have keys for each of the default network types.
  • Find 3G and 4G and change their Value's to 1 to set it to unmetered.

Remember to backup the registry before making any changes as so https://www.thewindowsclub.com/backup-and-resto...

Kind Regards,

Ryan

    Thanks a million, it's working!

Just for the sake of precision, I've had to edit permissions as these particular registry keys are protected.
