Windows 10 Installation Issue

How can I install Windows 10 version 1709 on Dell OptiPlex 3050 Desktop.

I have deleted the partition and pre-installed OS. Now want to reinstall the Operating System in it. I have Dell provided DVD media, Windows 8.1 Pro 64 bit and Windows 10 Pro 64 bit old version but Windows 10 1709 is available as USB media.

I have tried to install but failed to install any of these OS/media, both in UEFI and Legacy mode.

After 96% it is stopped and reboot, no progress after that. Installation is not going to complete. During the process of "Getting files ready for installation"  96% and then stops every time.

Please help to install the Windows 10 on this machine.

Hi AJ, you can reinstall Windows 10 at any time and it will not cost you anything !

Go straight for a clean install of Windows 10 1709, rather than installing and upgrading from Windows 8.1

Since you previously had Windows 10 installed and activated on that PC during the installation process skip the steps which ask for a product key and select the option 'I am Reinstalling Windows 10 on this PC', and activation will not be an issue, your PC will have a digital entitlement stored on the Microsoft Activation Servers

Make sure you install the same Edition of Windows 10 (Home, Pro . . . etc.) you previously had installed to avoid Activation issues

    Click this link:

    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-downlo...

to download the Media Creation Tool (Click on Download Tool Now), with that you can download the latest Windows 10 ISO (Select Create Installation Media for Another PC), you can create a bootable USB flash drive (min 8GB) using that tool

    IMPORTANT:

Insert the Bootable Installation Media, then go into your BIOS (F2) and make the following changes:

    1. Disable Secure Boot
    2. Enable Legacy Boot
    3. If Available enable CSM
    4. If Required enable USB Boot
    5. Move the device with the bootable disc to the top of the boot order
    6. Save BIOS changes, restart your System and it should boot from the Installation Media

    Hi AJ,

Both OS’s give you the same stopping point of 96%?

I’d boot to the win 10 Media again. Delete any/all partitions after choosing to install windows, then reformat the one drive that is left, and try again.

In meantime, do you have another pc to use by any chance?

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardwa...

I’d create new win 10 media and try again if that doesn’t work.

Give these two methods a shot and let me know. I’ll be here and we’ll get through this.
