I'm getting a runtime broker error when I open settings each time I start my computer up and have trouble restarting from windows updates. I've tried various fixes but it's still occurring. Any suggestions? I'm using Windows 10.

Everyday I am looking and searching for a fix to this problem, since May 2018 ive installed V1803 on 100 plus pc's (from USB stick downloaded with media creation tool, latest version) they range from brand new laptops and pc to used ones, I would guess that 80% or more of the machines have this error, some of them it goes after windows updates but most it does not.

It matters not on the age of the PC, or BIOS revision, it never occurs in version 1709 and is with only Windows 10 and drivers from windows updates without any 3rd party software installed.

From what I read 'runtimebroker.exe' had a revamp in version 1803, removing some apps and stopping onedrive from on startup does improve things but only to the point you don't have to wait so long before the error does not appear, i.e. if you immediately click settings after startup it still occurs, wait 5-10 seconds it does not.

The problem is not fixed and I feel that it wont be now until the next version of W10 is released, 1803 should not have been put to market in this state and was imo a rushed out job to meet GDPR standards.

    Very disappointing MS.

The runtime broker in Windows 10 is a process that helps manage app permissions and ensures apps are behaving themselves

What exactly are you trying to do when this error occurs? ARe you trying to update windows or just use it on the daily?

I downloaded a Windows update through Settings and it said to restart but I got a message saying the computer could not restart. I seem to really only get the error when I open settings the first time. That update would not go through for about two weeks but seems to have finally processed. I'm still getting the error regardless.
