New computer.  Win 10 pro.  I have installed just a few apps so far.  Clicking on a word document, powerpoint document or adobe file gives the message below.  I have Office365 installed and licensed.  Adobe Acrobat Standard 2017 installed and licensed.  Help!

I've played around with this a bit.  Same problem for Acrobat Std and Powerpoint.  Now Word files don't show the word icon but instead show a generic windows document icon.  When I double click, they open in Word, but I get the message: "Microsoft word isn't your default program for viewing and editing documents.  Do you want to select the file types that word should open?"  I click yes and get the default program selection area.  Word is selected as the default app for docx and other typical word extensions. Also correct for PDF and PPTX.  What is going on?  So frustrating.

I've tried both the quick repair and the longer repair of office 365.  Neither works.

Selecting the default app doesn't work.

Assigning file types doesn't fix the issue.

What happen if you do it by going to Default app settings (Type it on windows search bar) > choose default apps by file type.?

    1. For Office apps - Try repairing your Office installation. First try Quick Repair (takes 5 - 10 mins) , if that doesn't help then try Online Repair (Takes more than 30 mins but less than 1 hour in general)

Note for Office 2013 and below - Please repair only if you have product key with you as sometimes it asks for the product key again after the repair.

    Windows Key+I > Apps > Locate Office & click > Modify > Quick repair / Online repair

    1. For Adobe > Windows Key+I > Apps > Default apps > At the bottom, Choose default apps by file type > Locate .pdf and click and select Adobe Acrobat

Hi, i hope you're doing good today.

    Try this.

Right click on the file > Open With > Look for any office app and set it by default.

    Regards.
