Cannot click on lock screen

I can no longer click on the lock screen to get to the password entry, nor can I click on any of the power options or anything else. The keyboard works fine, and I can still log in using that.

I am running Windows 10 build 17134.285, Gigabyte Aorus Gaming 5 Mobo, and i7-8700k

I can move the cursor, but cannot click on anything until I get to the desktop through keyboard navigation. Also, the first mouse click upon reaching the desktop does nothing, and can only be used after the second mouse click, regardless of what is being clicked on (taskbar, start menu, desktop). Almost as if the first click registers the mouse as available, then allows it to be used.

I tried deleting and reinstalling all mouse drivers mice as well as re-flashing the BIOS. The problem also happens when booted into safe mode, so I think I have narrowed it down to a Windows issue.

Let me know if you need any more info. Help appreciated, thanks.

    Hi Phi,

Start your PC, just as Windows attempts to load (spinning dots), press and hold Power Button for 5 - 10 seconds to perform a Hard Shut Down

    Do this twice

On the third start Windows will boot into the Recovery Environment and from there you can access System Repair, Safe Mode, Command Prompt . . . etc.

Please try each option one at a time, then see of Windows will boot . . .

Go to Troubleshoot - Advanced Option - Startup Repair

See if Windows startup can repair itself

Go to Troubleshoot - Advanced Option - System Restore

Check to see if you have a restore point you can go back to

I have tried startup repair and it didn't find any problems.

There are no restore points to go back to and I cannot revert Windows to a previous version.

Booting in safe mode also doesn't fix the problem.

I don't have a problem booting up the computer, I just cannot click on any part of the lock screen to access the power options or change the password type.
