Hi,

I am getting this error code (0x8000000b) on my new HP. I added my hotmail account and one yahoo account to the mail app, but get this code continually when trying to add my second yahoo email account, which is most perplexing. I have tried it multiple times and even tried a restart. Please advise, I am not very computer savvy.

Thank you!

    Here’s the link:

    https://support.office.com/en-us/article/set-up...

You’d choose advanced setup>internet email & use the Yahoo server details:

    Yahoo! IMAP incoming mail server:

    imap.mail.yahoo.com:993:1

    SSL yes

    Yahoo! SMTP outgoing mail server:

    smtp.mail.yahoo.com:465:1 or smtp.mail.yahoo.com:587:1

    SSL yes

    Require authentication Yes

Username is your full email address

    Password is the account password.

Oh no I spoke too soon.

It added the account but won't sync any of the emails for the account, or the previous yahoo account that was working fine before.

Just to clarify, when I go to advanced setup, do I do "Exchange ActiveSync" or "Internet Email"?

I did "internet email"...and chose POP instead of IMAP.

    Thank you for your response.

I don't know how to "manually set up the account rather than allowing the mail app to" so I followed your directions to allow apps to use less secure sign ins. That did not work.

Could you please give me instructions on how to manually set it up?

    Thanks!

This seems to be happening to several users, my solution is to manually set up the account rather than allowing the mail app to enter the server details under the mail app.

If this doesn’t work then you’ll have to turn on allow less secure apps access:

Give temporary access to outdated third-party apps

While you switch apps or update your app, you can give the old app temporary access. Just remember, this is not intended for permanent access and you'll want to turn it off afterwards.

    Sign in to Yahoo Mail.

Go to your "Account security" settings.

Turn on Allow apps that use less secure sign in.

Once the feature is turned on, you'll get regular alerts reminding you to turn it off. To do so, just follow the steps above and turn off "Allow apps that use less secure sign in."

Also if you have two-factor authentication on your Yahoo account you’ll require an app specific password.
