License Question

The description for my Windows 10 Home license is OEM_COA_NSLP ..

My question is will I be able to transfer this license in the future onto another motherboard/ HDD if anything was to happen to my current motherboard/ HDD?

I understand that SLP is non-transferable but there is no information regarding NSLP licenses ..

Thanks in advance ..

Don't bother waiting for an "official" MS response, you are unlikely in the extreme to get one.

"officially" there is only a very limited exception to the no transfer rule for OEM licenses. Normally the only exception is if your MOBO dies and you get it replaced on warranty. But as Summit noted, there have been a few recent replies where the users were able to convince MS Support to allow the transfer. But it is a rare exception.

Question: I've found a definition for SLP: System Locked Pre-installed.

I've found another reference that NSLP is Non System Locked Pre-installed.  As I understand it, OEM NSLP is specific to a limited number of countries that have special consumer rights laws that do not allow SLP.

So from a action point of view, if you have an OEM NSLP license that you can activate on one machine you should be able to transfer it to another.  But, you should check the license terms specific to that installation to see if you have the License Right to do a transfer.

You would not get a reply in the forums. But try this to ask chat support agents:

    Thanks for the response ..

I have two OEM_COA_NSLP licenses which I purchased from a third party who confirmed that it is similar to a Retail license as it is not an SLP license .. I will only be using the license's on 2 different home computers which will eliminate any misuse of said license's ..

Should I wait for someone from MS to officially reply regarding this?

OEM licenses essentially are non transferrable be it SLP or NSLP, but there are always exceptions.

MS says if the license isn't misused, activation troubleshooter would allow the activation. Depends on your luck,
