I can’t access my computer since updating Windows 10.  The trick of rebooting 3 times...when I try to restore, it’s finding no restore points.

After last update, here’s what happens.

Daughter gets one of two messages after welcome screen:

Or:

I log into admin...no problems with password.

Every time the computer is restarted inder admin, it redoes the update process below.

Updates proceed normally, “this might take several minutes”, “these updates help protect you in an online world”, “leave everything to us”, “making sure your apps are good to go”, “almost there”....

Then this:

Installed the pushed 'important updates' today.

Cannot find desktop, black screen. Files gone and nothing working.

Cannot restore. Great message 'leave everything to us', 'keeping you safe in an online world' etc, but now my Win10 machine is useless.

The Windows Rollback option does not work.

This message is from my partner's Apple laptop as my Win 10 machine is now useless.

    Solutions please?

    Michael.

    Hello,

A few possible reasons can cause this issue including improperly applied updates or damaged systems files. To help us identify the cause of this problem, we would like to know the following information:

    • Which Windows build and version are you using before updating? Have you updated to Windows 10 April 2018 Update (version 1803)?
    • Is your computer connected to your home network or a domain (school/work) network?
    • What is the make and model of your computer?

In the meantime, we suggest that you perform the trick of rebooting 3 times again and perform a Startup Repair. You may also try starting in safe mode. Here's how:

    1. Use the power button to restart your computer three times while Windows is loading. This will start Windows Recovery Environment.
    2. On the Choose an option screen, select Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Repair.
    3. For safe mode: On the Choose an option screen, select Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Settings > Restart. After your PC restarts, you'll see a list of options. Select 5 or F5 for Safe Mode with Networking.

    Looking forward to your reply.

My computer just made me to restart too, obviously to install these "important" updates... And I have the same problem too!! Cant find desktop error, black screen, nothing works. Never had this before. 😯 Tried everything..restoring default desktop, path change etc etc. The only option that helped bring some of the desktop features back was terminating and restarting explorer.exe BUT everytime i restart same "update" begins and it brings it back to an empty screen with same error!!! HELP! You better not messed my computer up with these updates! 😡😡😡
