Media Creation Tool not working - Wrong Parameter?

Hello everyone, 

i'm currently trying to install Windows 8.1 on a bootable USB Stick so i can set it up on an old Notebook i bought. (Lenovo SL510) 

Unfortunately i can't seem to get the Media Creation Tool to work. 

I tried downloading it on 3 different machines 

• My main Setup using a ethernet connection
• A Surface using a WiFi Connection
• And through another Notebook by using a WiFi and then an ethernet connection

All of those tries were ultimately futile as the creation tool would always immediately stop by stating the

"Download couldn't be finished - Incorrect Parameter"

(It might not exactly be this exact error message since i just translated it from my native language to english) 

I also tried creating a USB Stick directly through the creation tool and also tried downloading the Windows 8.1 ISO with the same result. So no matter what part i try it always ends up with this error message. 

Does anyone have an idea on what i could do to get the tool working? I did another Windows 8.1 Installation a couple weeks ago and it worked just fine then. 

Every answer is appreciated and thanks for your help in advance. :)

It is a know problem at Microsoft's end, which apparently they are working on.

I suggest that the Microsoft Agent ask his supervisor to investigate this matter for an update to when it will be fixed.

It is NOT your computer.

There are several reasons why you're having difficulties on creating a media creation tool for Windows 8.1. For us to isolate the issue, please answer the questions below:

• Do you have an operating system installed on the Lenovo SL510? If yes what version of Windows is installed?
• Just to clarify, did you downloaded the media creation tool from our website?
• Can you please provide a screenshot of the exact error message that you encounter when trying to create a media creation tool?

For now, let's remove the possibility that a third party application might be hindering the installation process by placing your computer in a clean boot state. Click on this link on how to perform a clean boot in Windows then try to create a media creation tool again.
