Unzipping antivirus executable file

hello,

my computer has just upgraded operating system to Windows 10. To allow Windows 10 installation it asked me to delete my McAffee antivirus programme - virusScan Enterprise 8.8. I wanted to reinstall this but every time I try to run the exe file - which needs to be extracted with winZip it tells me access is denied on a popular Windows labelled WinZip self-extractor.

i have tried changing security settings, on properties as reading around this seems to be a common reason for this to happen, however no luck. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Can you copy the files to a different folder? Also check the file properties to see if it needs to be unblocked.

tried to run the exe from the temp folder where my extracted files are, but it tells me that windows cannot access the file and that I may not have the appropriate permissions - even though on properties I have full control. any ideas? thanks!

I have checked and yes it does extract the zipped exe file and I can find the extracted files in the Appdata/local/temp folder that it creates, but i cannot do anything with them. I have tried launching the extracted exe file from the temp folder but I get a message saying I don't have permission to access the file, though if I look at its properties I have full control - any other suggestion? thanks!

Create a folder C:\Temp, run the self extractor and extract the files into that directory. Then run setup.exe from c:\temp.

Windows has it's own extraction capability. You should be able to double click on the zip file and Windows will extract it for you.
