Thanks I got to the second step on trouble shooter xyz and found this.
Internet access
Since the last Windows module update (Aug 28) I have had no access to the Internet. I found the computer frozen on the blue screen at 100% saying it would restart for me. I had to restart it manually after about 30 minutes. Since then Ethernet says no
internet. There is no option to select wifi. There is no option for airplane mode showing. The only modification recently made was installing new Ram memory. I have restarted the modem/ router and reset it. I have run the net work diagnostic tool. That tells
me that the "The network Diagnostic Policy Service is not running". I have repaired that as an administrator with no change. The Qualcomm wifi adapter is disconnected. Local area connection *2 disconnected as is *4 also the Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller
is disconnected. I have wifi to my I pad. So not the modem/router

Can you restart the computer in "Safe Mode with Networking" and see if you can establish a wired connection.
