Good morning. I need some information. In the company we use Windows 2019 Datacenter in Terminal Server. Users connect via Wyse RDP terminals. Situation: Change password by pressing ctrl-alt-delete. We enter the current password and type the new password twice. Windows returns this message: "Unable to update the password. The value provided for the new password does not meet the lenght, complexity, or history requirement of the domain" If I then log on to the primary domain controller with my personal administrator user, open the control panel, go into administrative tools and open Active directory users and computers I can safely reset the password of the user in question by typing the same for which I received the error message above. For example: My password includes numbers, special characters, uppercase and lowercase characters and is 27 characters long. If I try to change the password by pressing ctrl-alt-delete and put a long 28 characters (adding only one) I receive the above message back. If I do it from Active directory users and computers instead I can change it without problems. Can you explain the matter to me?

    Hi,

It should be able to change the password if you you can change it through the ADUC.
I would suggest check the following points:
How did you set the password policy for the domain ?
Make sure the clients have the latest updates.
Set the Minimum Password Age is to 0 day.
Check if other users on other computers have the same issue.

    Best Regards,

Hello. Thank you for your kind answere:

"How did you set the password policy for the domain ?"

I've not set any policy in the domain.

"Make sure the clients have the latest updates."

    Both are up to date.

For example: I just tried to change my password directly from a Windows 2019 Datacenter RDP session with the latest available updates installed Sunday morning. The problem persists.

"Set the Minimum Password Age is to 0 day"

    I'll check it...

"Check if other users on other computers have the same issue."

All users have the same issue.
