Hi,

After 1803 upgrade today Notepad++ no longer opens.

I tried un-installing and re-installing with no luck.  I can see the application attempt to start and then fail.

The event log shows the following:

Faulting application start time: 0x01d3e0d0ebc274f3

Faulting application path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Notepad++\notepad++.exe

Faulting module path: C:\WINDOWS\System32\KERNELBASE.dll

Report Id: 0cb1c55b-3ce1-4602-bbda-1d8cc564f8db

Faulting package full name:

Faulting package-relative application ID:

When I tried to Re-Register the Kernelbase.ddl, i.e., regsvr32 KernelBase.dll I receive an error

Can someone point me in a direction to resolve this problem?

Thanks,

Gus

I get the same error(kernelbase.dll, Fault offset 0x0010d722) when trying to merge mail using Word 2013. Problem already occured before the upgrade to 1803.

I can hardly find anything about it on Google.

I've tried both repairing and completely reïnstalling Office, without luck.

Creating another Outlook profile or using another userprofile also did not do anything.

Using safe mode also did not work.

    Compatibility mode was unsuccesfull.

I also got an error when trying to re-register kernelbase.dll.

    Hi Charlie,

Thanks for the suggestions.  I failed to mention that I had already unsuccessfully tried compatibilities with various with OS's.

And, I didn't know about the NPP in the store.. I never look in there :-)  I'll give it a try though.

Let me know if you think or hear of any other possibilities.

    Gus

    Hi Speedy G,

One would think it’s an issue with the update, and one I’m not familiar with yet. I do have a couple of ideas though.

Right click on Notepad++ - properties - run in compatibility mode - test a few different OS’s and see if you can get it to launch.

    1. Check this out - https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/store/p/npp/9pl... - Not sure if you have this app installed from the Windows Store, but it’s an unofficial Notepad++ - May get you by while the kinks are worked out with 1803 and the notepad++ application.

    I hope this helps!
