I have two gmail accounts on Windows Live Mail.  Both are setup exactly the same.  One does not send or received and I get the following error message.

Unable to send or receive messages for the Gmail (LarryWilsonMBSC) account. The email server returned an error.

Server Response: * OK Gimap ready for requests from 75.183.142.108 1-v6mb86932457qvf

Server: 'imap.gmail.com'

Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC90

Protocol: POP3

Port: 993

Secure(SSL): Yes

Thanks. I've learnt something today: Gmail doesn't care much what you enter for the server name.

However, you'll note that the error message you quoted in your original post gives the port as 993, which is the standard port for secured IMAP. That won't work with POP3. You'll note that the port for the working account is shown in your screenshot as 995, which is the standard port for secured POP3.

If you had allowed Windows Live Mail to apply the default settings when setting up these accounts, they would have been configured to use IMAP, connecting to imap.gmail.com over port 993. If you have a good reason to use POP3 instead, then you should connect to pop.gmail.com over port 995.

To get the broken account to work for incoming mail, then, change the server name to pop.gmail.com and the server port for incoming mail to 995.

If you're not able to send with this account, we'd have to see the error message generated when you try to send.

Both are setup exactly the same.  One does not send or receive ...

I doubt that they are set up exactly the same, because …

    Server: 'imap.gmail.com'

    ...

    Protocol: POP3

    Port: 993

… you can't connect to an IMAP server using POP3, and you can't use POP3 over port 993.

It looks as if you've tried to convert a POP3 account to use IMAP instead. This can't be done. You'll have to set up the account again from scratch using the proper IMAP settings, which Windows Live Mail should apply by default.

Here is a screen shot of the working email account.  The non-working is set up the same way.

No matter what I do or change, I still get error messages.  Now I see this one:

K Gpop ready for requests from 75.183.142.108 x123-v6mb231133820ybg

    Configuration:

       Account: Gmail (larrywilsonmbsc)

       Server: imap.gmail.com

       User name: ******@gmail.com

       Protocol: IMAP

       Port: 995

       Secure(SSL): 1

       Code: 800ccc0f

I can send from and to the non-working email account if I go online to gmail to see the activity.  The emails just do not

download to my computer.  Can I send you a pdf file showing how I have the working email account set up?

    Larry
