Windows 10 Performance Issue with WinForms Application

Hi,

We are upgrading from Windows 7 to Windows 10.

We encounter very bad performance with a our WinForms applications running on Windows 10 with .NET 4.7. We had no problems under Windows 7 with .NET 4.5.2.

After investigation it appeared creating GUI controls on a form is several times slower on Windows 10 than is was on Windows 7.

There are several posts on the web indicating the same problem but without a solution.

Have anyone encountered similar problems? Maybe someone found even a solution for this problem?

Thanks for your reply.

Since your Winform applications are not compatible with Windows 10, you can downgrade, defer, and post-pone the upgrade. You can visit this link: Recovery options in Windows 10 for more information about how a reset works and to know what are your options. Go to "Go back to your previous version of Windows" section to perform a complete rollback to Windows 7.

If the rollback option is no longer available, you can only either go back to the restore point or perform a factory reset (You should have to backup all your personal files if you select this option).

Otherwise, since the Winform applications that you’re using in Windows 7 didn’t work as it was designed for and the performance issue will still persist, regardless of the operation that you perform, we recommend sending us a message through our Feedback Hub.

You can let our app developers know about this by sending us a message there**.** In this way, they will review this concern as a reference for our future updates. To send us a suggestion, follow the steps below:

    1. On a Windows 10 device, search for “Feedback Hub” in Cortana search, then launch the app.
    2. Navigate to Feedback in the left menu, then press + Add new feedback.
    3. Select the Problem, and share any details you think are relevant, and choose an appropriate category and subcategory.

    4. Important: If possible, reproduce the problem(s) after clicking Begin monitoring (or Start capture) near the end of the form; Stop monitoring when you’re done.

    1. Once you’ve completed the form and monitoring, click Submit.

    We appreciate your feedback.

    Hi Johann,

    Thanks for your reply.

In fact upgrading is not the issues. The company I work for is rolling out brand new machines installed with Windows 10.

The problem is that our Winforms applications, who performed well on Windows 7, now have performance issues.

The system needs a lot more time to compose the GUI interface as it did on Windows 7.

We are facing exactly the same problems as mentioned in this post reported by Stefan Seiffarth.

    Hi Peter,

Planning to upgrade your operating system is good for your computer. It offers feature enhancements, more security, and additional built-in programs. However, we would like to know what is the exact make and model of your computer? Can you check the link below if your computer is compatible with the latest versions of Windows 10?

See it here: Check this List to Determine if Your Computer is Compatible with the Windows 10.

If you see that your computer is listed there, you can stay with the upgraded state. However, there are circumstances that some computer units (especially older computers) are no longer compatible with the latest version which **** is the Windows 10 – April 2018 Update (version1803).

Can you provide us the information about your computer? We'll wait your reply.

In this way, we will be able to determine if you should stay on Windows 7 or continue using Windows 10.

If you have additional questions or concerns, please let me know by replying to this thread. This way, I'll get notified and respond back to you as soon as I can.
