desktop.ini?

Hi

I used Windows Media Player to rip some audio CD's onto an SD card which I use in my car. The album cover comes up on the screen which I rather like especially if I'm scrolling through the albums as it's easy to pick out the one I want to listen to.

I loaded some more albums onto the card and when I looked for the new ones there was no picture of the album cover only an image of an SD card. I could play the songs and the title came up but no album cover.

I looked at the files associated with each album and found that the ones with an image contained a desktop.ini file.

I also found the folder.jpg file and copied that into the first level and tried that. All the images disappeared from my car screen and were replaced by the sd card image.

So I formatted the card and started again but no luck.

I also have a usb thing that takes a micro sd card. I'd previously copied an album to this and so I copied a new album to it and tried that. The original file showed the album cover but the new one didn't. The old file has a desktop.ini file

Any ideas how I an get my album covers back?

Thanks

Hi Chris - I think this is happening because the database provider has been changed and I notice the artwork coming in is no longer compatible with the (very small!) WMP template.

I think you'll find that if you replace the artwork yourself through WMP then it will behave as it did previously... You can either locate the album cover online through Google images or if you can access the 'Folder' image that will do... click copy on the image and then right -click the album square in WMP and select 'Paste Album Art'. (Example below) then WMP will create the hidden files you are missing... Hopefully! - Cheers, Ric.

YW - yes it is a pain really, and with WMP being gradually wound down by MS it's not likely to improve. Because I have an 'Airplay' compatible streaming amp, I use iTunes as my default player but that doesn't always get artwork right either. At least the WMP paste option is fairly reliable (for now!) - Cheers, R.

    Hi Ric

Seems to be working although it is a pain the arras to keep pasting the images. Shame I didn't enquire here for a solution before I formatted the card and lost the 42 albums I had on it. :O)

    Cheers Ric many thanks
