Hi

I want remove a couple of obsolete links from Quick access. The links point to a server location that no longer is available. I tried the steps in

https://support.microsoft.com/en-my/help/4027032/windows-pin-remove-and-customize-in-quick-access

Unfortunately right-clicking a link results in a non responsive File Explorer or application (when the link is access from within a file dialog)

How do I edit Quick access links for location that are no longer available.

Ok cool, so were you able to remove the links? I’ve had a similar problem with word/excel with my end users. If we do a server move and they are set to automatically save to a location that no longer exists, office just hangs on opening.

Let me know if you’re good or if there is anything else I can help with.

    Hi C

Thanks for that. I seems that removing the network cable, and probably switching to flight mode on a laptop, works also. But there is quit a long delay before the OS finds out it has no network and in this time File Explorer just stalls for 30 seconds or so.

    Hi King,

I assume explorer is bombing out because it can't find the location. I'm sure there is a reg edit somewhere, but let's try safe mode first. Quickest and easiest solution if it works!

Click the Start button, then choose Settings .

Select Update & security > Recovery.

Under Advanced startup select Restart now.

After your PC restarts to the Choose an option screen, select Troubleshoot > Advanced options- Startup settings - Choose safe mode with networking.

Boot up, and try to remove the quick access link in safemode.

    Let me know!
