Password never works

When I get a prompt for my Microsoft password, after entering my password that I know is correct, I am told that it is the wrong password. This happens every time I try to use a password.   I have been forced to change my password 4 times in the past couple of days.  (Yes, I don't have my caps lock on; I use capitals when appropriate; I know how to spell; I understand passwords.)  I am beginning to think recording my new passwords is a waste of time and effort.

Thanks for any help.

Well, I think I found this after wandering around my settings for a bit.  But, I was not allowed to do this because I don't have admin rights.

My husband set up this PC for me (we each have our own) and he made himself administrator, not realizing that would cause issues for me.  So, will have a techie friend straighten that out and perhaps this issue will go away.

    Thanks for your help.

    Hi Carly,

If you don't use a lot of Microsoft online services, you should switch to a local account to remove this constant annoyance:

    Open the Settings App

Go to Accounts - Sign-in Options

Choose to sign in with a local account

(in newer versions of Windows 10, this might be on the Your Info Settings Page)

Enter your old password and enter a new password

    Close the Settings App
