recurring Windows 10 explorer network error 0x80070035 the network path was not found.

i recently discovered this error last month. i run a backup software running daily to backup a WIndows 10 network shared drive to my Windows 10 PC.

when i found out that the daily backup had not run for several days for some reason (it has been running well since last  year). after checking, i am unable to access this network share from my windows 10 PC.  but the same folder is still accessible from my windows xp PC (same login and password).

i have not found a suitable solution on the internet, but was able to fix the network error by removing my name from the network share allowed user's list and entering it again. note this error does not happen on a windows xp PC.

1week later i find that i get the same error again.

this has not been a problem in the past.

why it fixes itself, removing and then recreating the same user (actually selecting the same user from the PC's registered users list) and the same password.

why my windows xp does not have this problem.

any help is welcome.

jep

sad to say, after the weekend, i am back to my original problem.  cannot connect to WIndows 10 shared folder. suggestions mentioned above has not helped (except that i have not uninstalled the network adapters, which gave me more problems last time).

    update:

trying some of the suggestions i found in the internet, i uninstalled all my network adapters. turns out to be the biggest mistake. after they were reinstalled, i am now unable to access ANY shared folder in our network, and am getting another error 0x80004005, cant access shared folder error.

add to that system restore would not complete successfully, so i am stuck in this configuration., curiosly, internet works just fine. only the other PC's (not visible) and shared folders on the LAN are not working.

i further noticed that netbios always remains disabled no matter how many times i set to enable in ipv4 settings.  and it seems other settings for the network adapter would not stick, like setting fixed IP address, it will always go back to automatic.

further to that, i also had hyper-v enabled, but seldom use it. it did not help even i disable it (but i was able to remove the persistent vEthernet adapter). but problem remains.

spent two days researching this subject. and found this solution which works for me. hopefully it stays working. i used the Sharefix program:

    https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows\_10-networking-winpc/netbios-over-tcpip-broken-since-upgrade-to/fd141dd9-8500-419d-b8e7-ac7255f44ec0

this solution fixed the shared folder problem.

    thanks for your suggestions.

it may seem something broke because of a windows update.

poking around (even before i saw your suggestions), i noted that in explorer after i access the network PC's name (which results to that error), a message below the address bar pops up informing me that file and printer sharing was turned OFF. now as i understand, this is supposed to be necessary if i need to share my files to others, and not the other way around. but just to try it, i enabled file and printer sharing for the Private network. and curiously enough i am now able to access the shared folder on the other PC.

after that, i turn off again file and printer sharing . the function still works (i had always had it set to off, since i dont share any folders or printers).

as i am busy at work, i would have to see how this progresses in the coming days and weeks. and maybe try those other suggestions.

still not sure if this is because of the windows update. but we dont really change our windows configurations, and it sucks if something running well for a long time suddenly breaks.
