Latest Windows 10 pastes files with the same name in a folder by adding (1) to the name without an option message.

How to change default to skip if adding the same file?

    Windows 10 Home Version 1803

    1. copying a file in same folder, windows adds the name with a suffix, " - Copy",  without a message
    2. copying a new folder to old folder with cut and paste:

duplicate names were automatically added by with a numeric suffix.

    i.e. name.jpg becomes name(1).jpg without a message.

    1. XCOPY command in power shell requires a /Y to replace duplicate names

    Hi charlesluke,

Just to verify, what version of Windows 10 are you using? Are you trying to paste files with the same name within the same folder or are you pasting files from one folder to another? By default, saving files with the same name within the same folder would not prompt any option or message to skip adding the same file. On the other hand, if you are pasting files with the same name from a folder to a different folder, an option or message would become available.

We'll be waiting for your response.
