Power management - Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power

Hello,

I want to uncheck the option of "allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" for the network adapters settings, on the network adapters>>Power Management tabs, uncheck the first option for the WI-FI settings and SIM adapter.

I trying to find out the solution to update the option with registry or GPO, the answers of modify the registry key isn't working on Win 10, like below, but works only for Win7:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\Driver Key, modify the registry key "PnPCapabilities" value to 24, isn't working.

I even found this pretty nice solution:

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/2740020/information-about-power-management-setting-on-a-network-adapter

but again, it is for win 7

Any ideas?

Thank you,

Best regards,

Jakub

I tried to changed it manually. I took the snapshot registry before and after. I then did compare registry. I've found that 2 registry keys are changed (from 272 to 280):

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Class{4d36e972-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318}\0002\PnPCapabilities=280

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class{4d36e972-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318}\0002\PnPCapabilities=280

But when I change it using cmd, key value is changed, but checkbox is still checked.

    Any help, please?

    BR

    Jakub

    Hi Jakub,

Just to clarify as it wasn't mentioned in your post, is the check box for the Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power option grayed out?

If so—noting that you tried to follow a method that includes editing the Registry—please confirm if you were able to locate the PnP Capabilities for your network adapters. I would need you to attach a screenshot for me to verify.

Will keep an eye out for your response.

    Regards.
