Why can't I open .mht files with Edge?  I am forced to set up and use Internet Explorer.

I have just realized .mht does not open in edge because edge does not actually support .mht files. You will have to convert it to a .htm or /html or .pdf to read it outside of edge.

No.  The only option available is IE.

Hello. If you go into settings > Default apps > scroll down to "choose default apps by file type" > scroll to .mht > are you able to set a different browser as default for those files?

It should be here: C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\microsoft.windowscommunicationsapps_17.7167.40721.0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe\hxtsr.exe

If you have already removed it or it isn’t there then please run sfc:

Right click start>cmd prompt/powershell with admin & enter

    sfc /scannow

    this should fix it.

If it doesn’t then it may be malware.

Please post back if that is the case.

    I hope this helps.
