Kernel Failure Warning -Genuine?

Anonymous
2018-04-03T00:01:27+00:00

I am on Windows 10 (64 bit) Fall Creators Update version..

Recently  (3 times in past few days) in the midst of matters my screen has gone light blue and a message appears  something like "failure" we are checking your details  . You can restart after  100%"

A QR code picture appears bottom left.

In text on screen shows https:/www/windows.com/stopcode

below it says "If you call a Support Person  tell them  "security Check  Kernel Failure"

a)   Is this  a genuine Microsoft message?

b) If so   what is  a Kernel Failure  and what does that mean?.

     Can it be fixed?

Guidance please

thanks

Neil

    Hi Neil,

Blue Screens are in general caused by a bad driver

    Open Windows File Explorer

    Navigate to C:\Windows\Minidump

Zip up the contents of that folder

Upload the zip file to the Cloud (OneDrive, DropBox . . . etc.)

Then post a link here to the zip file, so we can take a look for you . . .

    Hello,

I am Sumit, an Independent advisor and a Microsoft MVP here to help.

We need log files(called dump files) that tell us what lead to crash.

Please share them with us for a better analysis of the problem. Instructions can be found here:

Please let us know if you need any assistance about posting dump files.

    Ciao NeilF784,

I'm Ugo, a Microsoft Independent Advisor willing to help other Microsoft customers.

Regarding your question, there are several reasons that could lead to that (genuine) error, most of them indicated in the below article:

    http://www.thewindowsclub.com/kernel-security-c...

Could you please test them and let me know if this helped somehow?

    Ciao

    Ugo

Yes, it is genuine if you did use the camera on your smartphone to convert the QR code and it linked you to Microsoft's website.

Here are some things you can do to diagnose and troubleshoot it:
