Hello, I'm Sheri a Microsoft Community Advisor. I'll be happy to assist you.

If your laptop refuses to charge the battery even though it acknowledges that it's plugged in, here's what you need to do:

    1. Open the Device Manager by searching for it or right-clicking the Start button and selecting Device Manager.
    2. Click Batteries on the list to expand it and you should see two items: Microsoft AC Adapter and Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery.
    3. Right-click on each item and choose Uninstall device. Yes, you are uninstalling your laptop's battery drivers, but don't worry because they will automatically be reinstalled when you restart your laptop.
    4. Shut down your laptop.
    5. Unplug the power cable from your laptop.
    6. If your laptop has a removable battery, remove it.
    7. Put the battery back in if you removed it.
    8. Plug in your laptop.
    9. Power on your laptop.
    10. Click the battery icon in the system tray and you should see that your laptop is plugged in and charging.

    Best wishes,

    Sheri D.

There can be several causes but to start with, you can try following. Please try these options one by one and check after each option.

    1. Troubleshoot Power

Type troubleshoot in Cortana Search > Click Troubleshoot > Scroll down > Click Power > Run the troubleshooter > Follow on-screen direction.

    1. Restore Default for Power Settings

Windows Key+I > System > Power & sleep > Click Additional power settings to open Power options > Click Change Plan Settings > Click Restore default settings for this plan

    1. Disable Fast Startup

Reach to Power options as in previous step > Click Choose what the power buttons do > Click Change settings that are currently unavailable > Scroll down to Shutdown settings and uncheck Turn on fast startup > Click Save changes

    1. Uninstall / Install Battery Driver (Only for laptops)

Shut down your computer > Detach power chord > Remove battery > Attach power chord > Reboot your computer

Windows Key+X > Device Manager > Expand Batteries > Right-click Microsoft ACPI-Compliant System > Uninstall > Shutdown the computer > Remove the power chord > Attach your battery > Attach your power chord > Reboot the computer to automatically install the driver

Hi IjlalAytes1 , please try these steps:

Unplug your Laptop and remove the battery

Press and hold the Power button for 30 seconds

Plug your laptop back in and replace the Battery

    Start your PC

Open Device Manager (accessible by right clicking your Start Button)

    Expand the Batteries section

For each device in that section:

    Right click and choose Disable

Then right click and choose Enable

    Close Device Manager

    Open the Settings App

Go to Update & Security - Troubleshoot

    Run these troubleshooters

    Hardware and devices

    Power
