SCCM CB - Server rebooted, when "suppress restart for servers" was ticked

Hi
I have a patch deployment set with "suppress restart for servers" set.
However, the server still rebooted.
Checking for other collections this server belongs to, i can see other patch deployments set as well. Some of them dont have "supress restart for servers" set.

So my question is, if the net effect of deployment totals to, say 3 deployments for a server.
2 of them have "suppress restart" set. 1 of them does not.
The patch that actually got installed is from a deployment that had "suppress restart" option ticked.
So what is suppose to happen? Which deployment option wins out? Is the server meant to get restarted?

Thanks
DM

    HI Everyone
OK, i just found something from Windows Updates log.

Client has determined it is safe to reboot without warning. Rebooting now...

So this will mean Windows Update has rebooted the server right? But why?
The server was pending reboot for 15 hours, before WU decided to reboot it.

The only WSUS GPO that is set are these two:

    • WSUSServer location
    • Allow signed updates

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks, DM

    @David Moon

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Q&A forum.

Have we checked the UpdatesDeployment.log and RebootCoordinator.log(it's recommended to view) on our client side?

Updates Deployment Agent checks whether any updates require a reboot. If the client needs a reboot, it will records like "is rebootneeded:nNotify count=1 No installations in pipeline, notify reboot. NotifyUI = True Notify reboot with deadline = Sunday..." like the image is shown below. At the same time, we could also see which deployment caused the reboot.

You probably need to set Configured Automatic Updates to Disabled otherwise the WU agent will initiate a reboot regardless.
