So this afternoon at around 1:50, my audio was working perfectly, no issues, nothing. I turned off my PC to go outside and play basketball for a bit, but when I got back and turned it on, there was a bluescreen. The bluescreen said something about memory and a reset. So naturally, I clicked yes, and shortly after logging in I see that there is an audio issue. I go to the device manager and apparently all of my drivers are up to date, and a recently added update or something has screwed it up. Please help!

    What is a "total memory wipe?" I didn't give any such step.

    If you were trying to Clean Install and followed the steps in the link to boot the media and delete all partitions down to Unallocated Space, then that will always work if done properly. What was the exact error or problem you got and I will help you get past it as I have tens of thousands of others - every one of whom got it installed eventually if they work with me.

    Were you able to find the Update you think caused this at Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update > Installed Update History to try uninstalling them to see if it makes a difference.     If not there then go to Device Manager reached by right clicking the Start button, roll back or uninstall any Sound or other driver you think might have caused this, restart PC to reinstall. You can also choose the Realtek device, from driver tab choose Upgrade, then Browse, then Let Me Pick to see the list of previous drivers to try each one.

    You see, I tried all of these things this morning, and nothing helped. I tried to do a total memory wipe of my PC and it did not work. It was a logitech audio driver that was installed yesterday that I am nearly positive that caused the issue. When i clicked on it to uninstall, it wasn't there on the website, of course. So i went ahead and tried to do a system restore and I had no restore points to go back to. Nothing is working for me, and my audio devices have practically died. Great.

    If this was caused by Windows Updates then you can check which were installed at Settings>Update & Security>Windows Update under Installed Updates, then uninstall them from the link there, and hide with the Hide Updates tool downloaded from here: http://download.microsoft.com/download/f/2/2/f2...

    You can also use System Restore to get before the problem began, then check for Updates with the Hide Update tool and hide them: http://home.bt.com/tech-gadgets/computing/how-t...

    If this is Fall Creators Update Version 1709, which you can check at Settings>System>About, you can also roll it back at Settings>Update & Security>Recovery, then hide it using the same tool above until it matures.

    Run the Blue Screen Troubleshooter at Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot.

    Please run the Playing Sound troubleshooter at Start button > Settings>Update & Security>Troubleshoot.

    Try rolling back the sound driver in Device Manager reached by right clicking the Start Menu. Choose Sound controller device, then Driver tab, then Roll back if available.

    Update the Sound driver from the PC's Support Downloads web page. While there make sure you also have the latest Chipset, Display, Network, USB and all other drivers, comparing with the version presently installed in Device Manager.

    If no newer driver then uninstall the one presently installed in Device Manager, reached by right clicking the Start Button. Restart PC to reinstall.

    It's possible this was caused by a Windows Update so if nothing above works, go to Settings>Update & Security>Windows Update, check the Installed Updates list for Updates that might have been just installed, try uninstalling them using the Uninstall button present there. Then hide the Updates using the Hide Updates tool downloaded from here: http://download.microsoft.com/download/f/2/2/f2...

    Start with Step 4 to turn off Startup freeloaders which can conflict and cause issues, then Step 7 to check for infection the most thorough way, then step 10 to check for damaged System Files. Then continue with the other steps to go over your install most thoroughly.

    If nothing else helps what I'd do at this point is wait a few days for Spring Creators Update to be released, install Media Creation Tool from this link and choose Upgrade This PC Now: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-10/m...

    This is the most stable way to change to the newer version and because it reinstalls WIndows while keeping your files and programs in place, fixes most problems. It also brings all Windows Updates to date.

    But remember that Factory or Upgrade installs are inferior installs which most enthusiasts won't even run because they'd expect endless issues.
