I'm not really sure what to call this or how to describe it so I'll just show a picture. I tried searching the internet for it. But kept finding other things. ![71674-image.png][1] [1]: /api/attachments/71674-image.png?platform=QnA I can open the same project in 2015 and it works just fine. Also, older projects work fine too. It is only new projects that seem to come up with this error.

    Hi @Andrew Thompson ,

    Welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum.

Please try following troubleshooting steps and share me the results to check further. But before checking the below aspects, I may need to confirm some information with you: what type of project do you use(VB .net? WPF project…)? Do you use the latest version of Visual Studio 2017(v15.9.33)? Do you also install .NET Framework 4.8 Developer Pack?

1). Please repair Visual Studio and try to update Visual Studio 2017 to the latest version.

2). Please try to uninstall and then reinstall the related workload in Visual Studio Installer(uncheck the workload > Modify > check it again > Modify). For example, for WPF, reinstall .NET desktop development.

3). Check if your issue is the same with this known issue: Application tab of VB project property pages is broken when installing the .NET Framework 4.8 Developer Pack.

    Best Regards,
    Tianyu
