Mounting and unmounting virtual drive triggered Office 2013 reactivation?

Based on a reply at another forum, I attempted to use disk management to mount a system image backup as a virtual hard drive, but this doesn't work so I unmounted it. This appears to have triggered Offices 2013 to state my system hardware had changed and I had to reactivate Office 2013.

I'm considering buying a third party backup application that creates mountable virtual hard drive images. I'm wondering if every time I mount or dismount a virtual hard drive, if Office 2013 or other Microsoft applications are going to ask for re-activation.

    Welcome to Q&A forum.
    Do you use MAK key to activate Office?
    If you use volume licensed version of Office 2013 like Office Professional Plus 2013 and Office Standard 2013 and use MAK key to activate it, as said in "Activate volume licensed versions of Office by using MAK", "After Office is activated, no re-activation is required unless the hardware changes significantly."
