MSFS crashes to desktop

My MSFS 2020 on a Windows 10 64 bit PC suddenly started working very badly, with occasional crashes to desktop and with severe stuttering when running. In device manager I located the following message: Device PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_1F82&SUBSYS_12651028&REV_A1\4&23f45f8a&0&0008 requires further installation. How do I resolve this?
