Re-install azure ad connect, keep settings

Question

Our Azure AD connect stopped syncing all of a sudden. Below are some of the errors. If i want to un-install and re-install and maintain any custom atrributes, settings etc..., whats the safest way?:

or an older way of doing it:

The better option is to build a new server and make the that primary and then remove AADConnect from the current one

thanks for the info. We ended up restoring the server from backup and managed to upgrade the version and now its syncing.

The only issue i have is that i am getting this.
