Did you use 32-bit or 64-bit Excel?
As far as I know 32-bit Excel is limited to 2GB in Memory and Power Pivot relies on being able to keep all data in Memory.
If you're using 32-bit Excel, you can change to 64-bit Excel to improve Memory.
