Yes, this can be different to get working in a workgroup. The SQL Server account needs to have access to the network drive. You would have to set up SQL Server to run under a regular Windows user, and on the other machine you would create the same user with the same password.

I created a maintenance plan for differential backup. I am a workgroup network. How can I configure the network service. The plan is working perfectly in the local system.

I want to store the backup in a remote location. I am able to access the remote folder through SMB protocol from SQL server. But the maintenance plan getting fails while setting the remote location. While I check some blogs many said the network service accounts need to reconfigure with a domain user, unfortunately, I am working in a workgroup environment.
