Getting MSDTC error 0x8004D02B though all things look fine...

Hi,

Getting below error related to MSDTC. Did some research for weeks. Every thing looks fine

  • Firewall configuration looks correct
  • Systems are pining by host name in both directions
  • MSDTC uninstalled and installed again
  • Component services configurations to allow network access is also granted
  • DTCPing is giving success
  • Registry entries(specifically the CID's) look good.

Finally gave up...
If any one can help me troubleshoot this issue, I will be great full to them....

Regards
JP

On which action do you get the error message? Access a linked server? What for a query, an UPDATE/INSERT?

The MSDTC transaction manager was unable to pull the transaction from the source transaction manager due to communication problems

If it's a distributed transact, is MS DTC also setup on the other system? By the error message it looks like not.

That 0x8004D02B error code is an MSDTC error code basically saying that MSDTC was unreachable on the other machine. When this happens every time, it's indicative of one of the issues in the error message, like NetBIOS resolution or firewall or MSDTC security settings.

Check this similar case for a hint
