Hello Team,

Is is possible to use the Title column in a SharePoint list to generate a random number. For example can i have it generate a number like year/month/daynumber/randomnumber?

I then want to rename that column something like reference number. Since i have to keep it i want the information in there to be unique.

Thank you.

    Hi anonymous user ,

Is this random necessary? If not, I would suggest you use the List ID column. List ID will definitely not be repeated in a list.

    First edit the current view:

Then uncheck Title column, check ID column, and change the column order of ID to 1:

    Rename the column:
    74176-9.jpg

    Result:
    74183-6.jpg

To be honest, I think I've been overthinking what I want to achieve. I'm putting the Title field in the same category as a database key, but it really isn't since list isn't a database. I'll just rename it to First Name or something then that will be find. If i need to introduce a booking reference then I'll use the ID field.

Thank you for your input this far.
