Hi,

We have an Active Directory in the department, with Linux samba shares. Linux uses AD via winbind, we have an share on Linux with a AD group assigned to it, this group as "domain\administator" and other members of the domain including myself "domain\pierre".

On windows server 2012, I can access the share without any issues. and because the administrator is in the group, it can access it instantly. I could also access the share with my Pierre account.

I have recently installed Windows Server 2019 as a DC. (2 of, to retire 3 of 2012 r2 next month or so).
When I try to access the share with the logged-in domain\administator, I get access is denied. but when I log in to "Pierre" and access the share, works fine.

Is there something in 2019 that is disabled by default/or enabled that it won't allow the administrator account to access certain shares?

the samba shares are SMB3.1.1 Thanks

    Hi ,

Is there something in 2019 that is disabled by default/or enabled that it won't allow the administrator account to access certain shares?

No, as far as I know, there is no such limitation.

Please try to create a new share on Linux and give it correct permission. Then check again if you can access the share with domain\administator account.

If you still cannot access the share with domain\administator account, please check SMB client log on server 2019 to see if there are something related for us to troubleshooting.

    Best Regards,

    Candy
