Unable to access NFC reader on Surface Go 2

We have trouble finding any info on how to speak to the NFC reader present in the Surface Go 2. The traditional smartcard interface that was used in the past for USB based NFC readers does not seem to detect the device. Can you please advise us on how to get interact programmatically with the NFC reader if this is not done via the PC/SC API anymore.
