Visio and Excel can´t change the format of data in the shape

Question

Hi all, I want to make a floorplan. It´s a large project and i´m using Excel to import data to Visio. When there is a wall socket there must be a number under the wall socket. This number comes from the Excel sheet. So i import the Excel sheet, and choose the rows. After that i connect the appropiate row to my shape, i altered the data graphics so i get the data under the shape. But when i go in the window where i can uncheck the colum and check the colum, suddenly my changes are overuled with some default settings of Visio. According to your description, I did a test and reproduced the issue by checking only “Id” column.

If needed, as a workaround, you could try to check the two columns of “Id” and “Wallsocket”.

Please go to Data>Advanced Data Graphics, and click Edit Data Graphic, then modify the Horizontal and Vertical under the Default Position tab to change the default settings.
Or you could also right-click the Data Graphic to find the Default Position.

Hi,

Thank you for your help and very usefull little animation.

Can you change the green bar in a string and do the same?
Besides i did some test, but despite i see your animation, i can get it to work.
When i place it under the shape, after i toggle the ID, it's popping back on the right side.

I don't have any clue.
