Restore on-premise StorSimple virtual appliance StorSimple virtual appliance running in Azure

Hi,

I have an environment with a StorSimple virtual appliance (1200) running on-premise. I also have a second StorSimple virtual appliance (1200) running in an Azure VM.

What I'd like to do is clone or restore my on-premise StorSimple volume to the cloud StorSimple. The motivation is to be able to process all files (think migration) without incurring egress). However, when I clone a volume, there is no way to change the target device, and my clone is only accessible through the on-premise StorSimple.

Is what I am trying to achieve possible? Or, is there a better way to get the data accessible in Azure so it can be processed without incurring egress costs?

Thanks!

@Greg StorSimple Virtual Appliance (1200) running in Azure VM is not supported configuration. StorSimple Virtual Appliance (1200) should run on on-premises Virtual Machine.

You can Clone of 1200 is available to the same device only.

You can perform fail-over to a different device. But all the data will be moved from the source device to the target device. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/storsimple/storsimple-virtual-array-failover-dr
